The situation in Armenia will stabilize after the parliamentary elections; there are grounds for optimism – Lebedev

The situation in Armenia is likely to stabilize after the parliamentary elections, and there are grounds to expect such a development, CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev told journalists, according to TASS.

Asked whether there are prerequisites for stabilization in Armenia following the parliamentary elections, Lebedev answered in the affirmative.

“Yes, I believe there are, because Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that Armenia is not planning to leave the EAEU at this time. As for the CIS, there is no discussion of withdrawal at all; Armenia remains within our structure,” the CIS Secretary General said.

Lebedev noted that Armenia’s plenipotentiary representative attended today’s session of the CIS Economic Council, took part in its work, and signed the relevant documents.

“We hope that everything will be normal,” the CIS Secretary General added.
