Civil Contract to elect National Assembly deputy speakers today

The ruling Civil Contract party will hold a board meeting today at 6:00 p.m., during which it will elect the National Assembly’s deputy speakers, the party confirmed to Aysor.am.

The candidates for the positions are Civil Contract deputy speaker Vahagn Aleksanyan, Civil Contract MPs Arman Yeghoyan, Arusyak Julhakyan, and Alkhas Ghazaryan, as well as Civil Contract parliamentary faction leader Hayk Konjoryan. Notably, after failing to secure the position of National Assembly speaker, Konjoryan has now also been nominated for the post of deputy speaker.

The Civil Contract board will elect two deputy speakers by closed, secret ballot.

The National Assembly speaker has three deputies, two of whom are nominated by the ruling majority, while the third position is reserved for the opposition.

Last week, the Civil Contract board approved Ruben Rubinyan’s candidacy for the position of National Assembly speaker.
