Election case at the Constitutional Court enters decisive phase; closing arguments to be heard today

The challenge to the election results at the Constitutional Court is entering its final phase. At today’s hearing, the parties will deliver their closing arguments, after which the court will retire to deliberate before issuing its ruling.

The Strong Armenia bloc will be the first to present its closing arguments, followed by the other applicants, the related respondents, the third party, and the respondent.

Aram Vardevanyan, a representative of Strong Armenia, told reporters outside the Constitutional Court that the court is expected to issue its decision “by July 4, at the latest.”
Responding to claims by lawmakers from the Civil Contract faction that the application is unfounded and “has no life,” Vardevanyan said the ruling party could hardly be expected to argue otherwise.

“And why don’t the authorities want the election results to be recognized as invalid? The answer is very clear: because the resource that has been used for electoral fraud will be difficult to use again. That resource, as such, is expendable,” he said.
