Lawyer Yerem Sargsyan barred from defending Gagik Tsarukyan and removed from proceedings

“We came here because we were invited so that the confrontation could continue, but our legal system never ceases to amaze us with its fantasies,” Yerem Sargsyan, the lawyer representing Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan, told reporters.

He said that before the confrontation began, he was informed that he was being removed from the proceedings as Tsarukyan’s defense attorney.

“They are not allowing me to act as Gagik Tsarukyan’s defense attorney because the Iranian citizen testified that I was also present at certain meetings with Tsarukyan during their general meetings. They concluded that I might have information relevant to the case and could be questioned as a witness,” Sargsyan said.

According to the lawyer, this is the top of illegalities:

“They removed me from the proceedings out of fear because we simply crushed the illegalities they had committed yesterday. The questions I was asking the victim were being excluded. In other words, I would ask a question, and the investigator would say that it was unrelated to the proceedings and remove it. We substantiated that what the victim had said was a lie.”
