“It is sad”: Deputy Defense Minister on the case of a soldier driven to suicide (video)

Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan declined to comment on the details of the case involving the death of soldier Narek Torosyan.

“A preliminary investigation is being conducted in each case. Please address your question to the body conducting the preliminary investigation,” Sargsyan said speaking to Aysor.am.

The Deputy Defense Minister noted that the case was sad.

“Naturally, work must be done,” he added.

The Investigative Committee reported that a criminal case had been initiated in connection with the death of a serviceman of N military unit of the Ministry of Defense on July 21. The necessary investigative and procedural actions are being carried out.

According to information received by ArmLur.am, the soldier had allegedly been driven to suicide. According to preliminary data, the soldier had been beaten before his death, and law enforcement officers had also uncovered other circumstances.

The Investigative Committee reported today that two servicemen had been arrested in connection with Narek Torosyan’s death. A petition has been filed with the court seeking their detention as a preventive measure.
