Rosselkhoznadzor to restrict dairy imports from Armenia starting July 27

Following inspections at a number of enterprises, Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of certain dairy products from Armenia.

From July 14 to 21, Rosselkhoznadzor specialists inspected Armenian dairy processing plants that had previously been approved by the veterinary service and were supplying their products to Russia. The inspections confirmed the same violations recorded during inspections in 2023-2024.

According to the agency, the inspections revealed the use of milk from infected animals in the production of products supplied to Russia.

“Cases of the use of raw materials from third countries in the production of high-fat products for the Russian market were confirmed, despite previous assurances by the RA Veterinary Service that local raw materials or raw materials obtained from EAEU enterprises would be used. To date, Armenia has not established a system to confirm the origin and safety of raw materials used in the production of milk and other dairy products. This is particularly relevant to milk processing by enterprises that cannot guarantee the safety of the products they supply. The condition of laboratory facilities also requires attention.

Taking into account the violations identified, Rosselkhoznadzor has taken measures to prevent the introduction of particularly dangerous infections into Russia and the sale of unsafe dairy products on the domestic market.
