The Azerbaijanis of Karabakh are presented as betrayers

Sergey Shaqaryants, the expert of political investigations institute, in the conversation with Aysor.am journalist touched upon the Madrid principles. The speaker mentioned that till now it is not clear which 7 regions are being discussed around the talks table and whether they speak only about the 7 regions around the NKR which make the security belt for the Republic or there are also other regions.

“With a very superficial accounting it turns out that Azerbaijan has pretentions for Shushi region too”, - said the political scientist.
According to the speaker if the question is observed from the point of view of revealing the 76 to 23 ethnic correlation it will mean the return of Azerbaijani to Shushi.

“I don’t see return of any Azerbaijani without force institutions or police, and that means returning Shushi region to Azerbaijan”, - pointed the political scientist.

S. Shaqaryants thinks that the Madrid principles that are “renewed” in Krakow will stay secret for a long time. He also said that it is possible to discuss the demands of Azerbaijan around the negotiations table as the discussions over the demands of the Armenian side are delayed.

“If the settlement principles are being renewed by the wish of Azerbaijan, so Armenia and Karabakh have to refuse it strictly. No previous interethnic correlation”, - he said and mentioned that the Azeri of NKR in 1991 boycotted and didn’t take part in the referendum.

“The Azeri of Nagorno Karabakh are presented as a fighting side, as betrayers. They have betrayed their country, and the betrayers, as we know, by the rules of war are treated strictly. But they have not been shot or send to a “concentration camp”, they have been send to their Azerbaijani compatriots. There is no return any more”, - said S. Shaqaryants and added that the Armenian side should express itself more strictly about the return of the Azeri to NKR region.
