Armenian President received newly appointed ambassador of Katar

As the Armenian President’s Press Office informed today, the newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Armenia, Ibrahim Abdul Rahman Al-Meghaiseeb (seat in Tehran), presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

Serzh Sargsyan congratulated the Ambassador on taking the office and said that “Armenia attaches importance to the development of relations with Qatar and other Arab countries.” The President voiced hope that the appointment of Qatar’s Ambassador to Armenia and the activity of the intergovernmental commission would create a solid basis for effective cooperation.

Ambassador Al-Meghaiseeb said “Qatar is interested in making investments in Armenia and intends to reach concrete agreements on cooperation in different spheres through high-level visits.”

The parties exchanged views on the Karabakh conflict settlement. President Sargsyan said Azerbaijan’s attempts to present the conflict as a religious one are unacceptable, expressing regret that Muslim countries often support those efforts.

According to the Ambassador, Qatar supports the approach of solving the issue exceptionally in peaceful way and does not think the conflict has a religious basis.
