600.000 visitors arrived in Armenia this year

Today on the meeting with the journalists the director of the Fund of national competitiveness Bekor Papazyan said that 600.000 visitors have arrived to Armenia this year, which exceeds the rating of the last year with 10%. He also mentioned that there can be noticed a growth of visitors year by year.

The rector of the institute of Tourism Robert Minasjan who was also present at the meeting mentioned that we should differentiate the tourist and visitor concepts as a part of the visitors stays in the homes of their relatives and are not regarded as tourists.
“The person is free, he can stay wherever he wants,” R. Minasyan mentioned.

The rector of the institute of Tourism attached importance to the organized tourism, which in Armenia makes little percent.
For developing the tourism R. Minasyan suggested to carry on active advertizing activities abroad and mentioned that the mentioned activities are missing today.
