“Russia has always been Armenia’s military ally”

The signing of the Armenian-Russian protocol is an important political and military event and has a regional significance, Turkologist, political analyst Hakob Chakryan told a press conference.

According to him, rumors on supplies of S-300 missile systems to Azerbaijan and deployment of a Turkish military base in Nakhichevan created preconditions for Armenia to extend the term of deployment of the Russian military base in Armenia.

Chakryan considers that the protocol strengthens Armenia’s national security, meanwhile “it can trigger political pressures from the West.”

“Russia has always been Armenia’s military ally, and we can trust Russia,” expert said in his remarks.
