The time of using physical violence to settle problems has passed, Chairman of the Public Council of Armenia Vazgen Manukyan told Shant TV channel commenting upon Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan’s resignation.

He said he does not remember the Armenian President responding to a high-ranking official’s indecent act.

Praising President Serzh Sargsyan’s fight against the phenomenon of using physical force to settle problems V. Manukyan said many people in Armenia welcome the fight; many people call and visit the Public Council hailing the fight against the disgraceful phenomenon.

“Armenia should have launched this fight as early as 20 years ago. It is a disease like cancer, and everybody was looking forward to President’s launch of the fight. The signal of launching the campaign was acceptance of Mayor’s resignation,” Manukyan said.
