Pure spiritual canticles of Komitas performed for the first time

Today Arthur Shahnazaryan who studies Komitas, informed the journalist that he has interpreted the Armenian notes. The interpretation was first realized by Komitas at the beginning of the 20th century.

He mentioned that the Armenian notes have been used through hundreds of years and have been forgotten in 1600s. Later on there was no one who could read them.

“Today our church music is orally preserved. It was sang for 400 years and has undergone changes for 400 years, it has been distorted or sang in another way,” Arthur Shahnazaryan mentioned and informed that Komitas has deciphered the notes and has found the key of those notes.

Arthur Shahnazaryan continues the work of Komitas as a result of which he has resumed 12 canticles of the Master.

The speaker informed also that 12 canticles of Komitas are to be issued on laser discs; they will be issued also in books, “For the first time pure spiritual songs to be heard.”
