Alessandro Del Piero to sign new Juventus contract

Juventus striker Alessandro Del Piero will sign a new contract that will see him remain in Turin beyond the summer, according to latest reports emanating from the Italian media.

The former Italy international’s current deal with Juve expires at the end of the season but there had been suggestions that the two parties will eventually see to it that the 36-year-old continues to feature for the Turin giants.

Juve’s general manager Giuseppe Marotta said this week that there is “a gentleman’s agreement’ between Del Piero and club president Andrea Agnelli and reports in Tuttosport and Sky Sport Italia appear to confirm that.

The media outlets state that Del Piero will put pen to paper on a new deal by Friday with the former Padova striker’s brother and agent, Stefano, having agreed terms with Marotta.
