Syrian opposition to arrive in Moscow
Moscow would host a meeting of moderate Syrian opposition groups in helping them find a common ground with Damascus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.
"Next week, we expect the visit of a delegation from the Syrian internal opposition. These are, first of all, representatives of the National Coordination Committee as well as Kurds opposition," Lavrov told reporters.
Lavrov explained that the Syrian delegation due to arrive in Moscow represented the opposition circles which disagreed with the hardline "outside" opposition.
After a five-day meeting held in the Qatari capital of Doha last week, Syrian opposition abroad signed an agreement to form a new coalition called the Syrian National Coalition for Opposition and Revolutionary Forces, in the hope of having a unified entity to fight the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
