BHK decision does not affect decision of “Heritage”

“The decision of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) may not affect the decision of “Heritage”: the party’s leader has clearly declared his intention to run in the presidential election,” Deputy Chairman of Heritage Party Armen Martirosian said at a press conference today, when discussing the internal political developments and the upcoming presidential election.

According to him, BHK is an independent political force, capable of taking any decision, but he cannot understand why BHK does not support anyone in the election.

“BHK is the second largest faction in the National Assembly and its decision to boycott the election is incomprehensible”, Armen Martirosian said.

Speaking about President Serzh Sargsyan’s speech at the convention of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), he said that the statement regarding the army, the purchase of new armaments, and ensuring security are acceptable to him.

“The statement about small and medium business is incomprehensible to me. I know a number of owners of small and medium businesses who have gone bankrupt or left Armenia in this period,” Martirosian said.

In his words, political will is needed to wage a struggle against corruption in Armenia: corruption in Armenia is of a systemic nature and the struggle against that phenomenon should continue.

He said that real reforms have not yet been implemented in the country, there are some sham steps, including those in the legislative field.

Armen Martirosian noted that statements about safe Armenia were voiced at the HHK convention, but so many people do not migrate from a safe country: the migration rate is alarming.
