Upcoming election – triumphal march of one man

«A new political agenda should form in Armenia because the upcoming presidential election is going to resemble a triumphal march of one man,» Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA)Aram Sargsyan said, when speaking about the internal political developments and the 2013 presidential election at a meeting with journalists today.

According to him, political and ideological competition is not expected during the presidential election.

“The President should prepare the country for systemic changes after the presidential election, while the program of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) is like good wishes,” Aram Sargsyan noted.

In his words, both the President and the Prime Minister have begun speaking about emigration, but the causes of emigration have not declined, moreover, a new problem has arisen: drivers want to leave the country because of low wages.

Persons who are bearers of ideas should act in the political field, and, according to A. Sargsyan, with the nomination of Raffi Hovannisian as a presidential candidate, an intrigue may start in the election.

As for the participation of DPA in the upcoming election, Sargsyan said that they will not field their own candidate, while the issue of endorsing any other candidate will still be discussed by the party.
