The survey was conducted by the Armenian Sociological Association and Baltic Surveys/the Gallup Organization, on the initiative of ArmNews Television Channel.

The survey took place on December 5-16, prior to the announcement that the leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) G. Tsarukian would not run in the election.

When asked what candidate they would never vote for, 39% of respondents indicated Levon Ter-Petrosian, 16% Arthur Baghdasarian, 12% Robert Kocharian, 11% Serzh Sargsyan, 7% Raffi Hovannisian, 6% Hovik Abrahamian, 5% Vartan Oskanian, 4% Gagik Tsarukian, 4% Vahan Hovhannisian, and 3% Hrant Bagratian.

When asked to name the political figure, towards whom they have a positive attitude, 72% named Gagik Tsarukian, 61% Serzh Sargsyan, 49% Robert Kocharian, 43% Tigran Sargsyan, 43% Raffi Hovannisian, and 34% Vartan Oskanian.

Baltic Surveys/The Gallup Organization’s representative, Dr. Rasa Alisauskiene stressed that people do not necessarily vote for those candidates, to whom they have a very positive attitude. “We develop a positive attitude towards someone for some reason or other, but it is not always that this person is a good candidate”.

1,020 adults were surveyed. The survey was carried out in Yerevan and all the marzes (provinces) of Armenia.
