R. Hovannisian: “Next presidency should be muscular”

Raffi Hovannisian announced today his decision to run for President in the upcoming election. During Heritage Party’s convention attended by 106 delegates, the participants stated they will support his candidacy.

In his speech, R. Hovannisiantouched upon all the challenges and problems that face Armenia such as the Karabakh conflict, the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, poverty, corruption, and emigration.

“From now on, we should struggle because we will not able to build a country of our dreams, while sitting at home and waiting for our finest hour…. The next Presidency of Armenia should be fat-free and muscular; all kinds of luxuries, expenditures on airplanes should be cut. Taxes should be reduced rapidly, and the deposits returned to the owners or their heirs. In this way we will become less dependent on foreign lands, raise wages, and assist family-owned businesses.

We must strengthen our army, but it should be strong not only by its skills – partiality should have no place in the Armenian army,” Raffi Hovannisian stated.

It should be noted that during the convention the singer Karen Mamikonian – prior to performing his song – described Raffi Hovannisian as a benign tumor cell. He sang “It is possible” song which says that everything is possible in the world, including Raffi Hovannisian’s victory.
