Hrant Bagratian’s nomination on agenda

Chairman of Freedom Party Hrant Bagratian told reporters during a briefing prior to the party’s convention that his nomination for the presidency is the only issue on the agenda.

According to him, former and current members of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) are invited to the convention. The HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosian has also been invited.

When asked whether he will cancel his decision about nomination if Ter-Petrosian decides to run for President, Hrant Bagratian replied that they have followed a 25-year path together and he will consider the issue.
As regards HAK’s assistance, the Freedom party’s leader said he is unaware of it, but it would be desirable. When asked whether the recording of the Zurabian-Oskanian conversation influenced his decision about nomination, Bagratian said it did not.

Bagratian stated he has a serious intention, anticipating that the opposition electorate will vote for him. “I think I will be able to gather the liberal wing in one place”.
