Serzh Sargsyan influential political figure of 2012
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is the most influential political figure in Armenia’s political life in 2012, followed by Gagik Tsarukian, Tigran Sargsyan, Levon Ter-Petrosian, Arthur Baghdasarian, Raffi Hovannisian, and Paruyr Hayrikian. The Head of “Sociometer” independent sociological center Aharon Adibekian stated this at a meeting with reporters today.
Presenting the results of a recent survey, Adibekian said that it showed that Raffi Hovanissian may become a serious rival to Serzh Sargsyan in the upcoming presidential election. According to him, Tsarukian’s decision not to run for President did not impact his influence rating.
Adibekian noted that the level of each political figure’s influence was determined based on a number of characteristics such as the ability to control the situation, appoint people to posts, dismiss people from their jobs, meet with leaders of other countries, attract financial resources, etc.
The survey revealed that only 60% of respondents are interested in politics.
The survey was conducted in December among 1,400 adults in all Armenian provinces.
