CEC rejects Mher Hayrapetian’s request

The self-nominated presidential candidate, unaffiliated person Mher Hayrapetian, who is currently unemployed, had requested the Central Election Commission that he should be allowed to pay a state duty of 50 thousand AMD instead of the required electoral pledge of 8 million AMD, Pstinfo new agency reports.

According to the source, the candidate explained his request by his poor material condition and the fact he has been unemployed for over ten years. He urged CEC to take into account his good education and his reputation as a good specialist.

CEC rejected Hayrapetian’s request. The commission explained its decision by the circumstance that the responsibility for payment of an electoral pledge, as well as its size is established by the Electoral Code.

By another decision of CEC, the candidate was given additional 48 hours (envisaged by the Electoral Code) to pay his electoral pledge. So far he has submitted a receipt of one thousand AMD instead of required 8 million AMD.
Unless the candidate submits a receipt about payment of the required sum until January 10, 03:00 pm, he will not be registered.
