Prices of goods may decline, if…

Over 70% of Armenia’s external commodity turnover is done through Georgia, Armenia pays a high price for transit traffic, as a result of which the prices of goods are high in the country. The prices will considerably decline if Armenia enters into the Agreement on Transit Trade of Landlocked Countries, political scientists Narek Galstian said at a meeting with journalists today.
In his opinion, by entering into this agreement, Armenia will also be able to improve its customs policy.

The speaker’s answer to the question “Why has Armenia not entered into the agreement so far?” was that Armenia is a small market and such a step would not be in the interests of some circles engaged in import.

Narek Galstian said that last year the parliament held hearings on this subject, which he said was progress, but concrete steps have not yet been taken.
