Presidential candidate: It was my duty to stand by defeated HAK

“It is absolutely true that I participated in sittings of the Education and Science Commission of Armenian National Congress (HAK),” presidential candidate, epos expert Vardan Sedrakian said during a talk with Aysor.am, when commenting on the information reported by the mass media.

According to the press reports, a few years ago Vardan Sedrakian participated in sittings of HAK’s Education and Science Commission.

“After the March 1 events when many members of HAK were arrested, I considered it my duty to stand by that crushed and defeated force in the historical period,” the presidential candidate explained.

In his words, he has for many years had friends who are HAK members and he tried to help them in this way. Later when the HAK members were released from prison, he had nothing to do anymore there.

“I think any self-respecting person should have stood by that political force after the March 1 events,” the epos expert said.

When asked if he participated only in sittings of HAK’s Education and Science Commission or in any other sittings as well, Vardan Sedrakian noted that he could not attend sittings of other HAK commissions, even if he wanted to, because “I was not engaged in politics at that time”.

“By the way, I should say that I was asked to participate. It was a human and civilduty,” V. Sedrakian said in conclusion.
