Names of 8 candidates included in voting papers
As of 6 pm January 10, the names of 8 presidential candidates were included in voting papers. Unless they withdraw their candidacies, they will run in the presidential election to be held on February 18.
The candidates who have paid an electoral pledge of 8 million AMD and are running for President are: the incumbent Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, the former Prime Minister of Armenia, currently a deputy of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) parliamentary faction Hrant Bagratian, the Chairman of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian, the Chairman of National Accord Party Aram Harutyunian, the leader of National Self-Determination Union (AIM) Party Paruyr Hayrikian, the former Foreign Minister of the NKR Arman Melikian, epos expert Vardan Sedrakian, and political scientist Andreas Ghukasian.
It is noteworthy that prior to the registration of candidates, 15 citizens had submitted their documents to the Central Election Commission. Three of them have already announced their decision to drop out of the race. The remaining candidates, whose names have not been included in voting papers, did not submit receipts about payment of their electoral pledges.
