Ivanishvili: Resumption of rail communication possible
“There are no problems between Armenia and Georgia, and it is possible to resume the rail communication. Georgia has great problems with Russia, these problems still remain, and we hope that we will soon normalize our relations with Russia”. Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said this during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan in Yerevan today, when speaking about Abkhazia-Georgia-Armenian railway.
In his words, Georgia tries to normalize its relations with Russia as soon as possible. The most serious problem is Georgia’s territorial integrity, and the railway’s operation is related to some general problems. These problems will be solved rapidly if both sides display will.
On behalf of the Georgian side, B. Ivanishvli expressed willingness to solve the problems.
Tigran Sargsyan said for his part that resumption of the railway’s operation, which is an issue on the agenda of Armenian-Georgian relations, has been discussed and Armenia makes efforts so that the railway will start operating. “Armenia is interested in rapid solution of this issue and takes an active position on it”.
