Georgia’s position: Karabakh problem should be solved peacefully

“I wish the Nagorno Karabakh problem would be solved by peaceful means,” Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili stated at the joint press conference that he and Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan gave today.

He also answered the Georgian “Rustavi” television company reporter’s question related to the statement of Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze, saying: “This issue was already settled, this issue was distorted”.

It should be mentioned that according to Azerbaijani mass media, Maya Panjikidze stated that the Karabakh problem should be solved in the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. The Georgian foreign ministry refuted the misinformation of Azerbaijani side and said that Maya Panjikidze did not make such a statement.

Tigran Sargsyan thanked Bidzina Ivanishvili for taking a balanced stance on the Karabakh problem. Speaking about distortions regarding the Karabakh problem, T. Sargsyan said that very often this or that issue is distorted, but in this sense there have never been “any comments which do not correspond to the position of Georgia”.
B. Ivanishvili assessed the Karabakh problem as a difficult problem that is hard to solve.

It was mentioned that the Georgian prime minister had also discussed the Karabakh problem with Ilham Aliyev in Baku, and the Armenian prime minister was informed about that. No details, however, were given.
