Arman Melikian unwilling to continue election campaign

The presidential candidate Arman Melikian will be guided by the slogan “Do not keep silent!”

At a meeting with reporters held on the second day of election campaigning, he said that silence is an escape from reality. He stressed that the matter concerns first of all intellectuals.

Arman Melikian refuses to continue his election campaign for the time being because the problem of legality and legitimacy of elections is not solved. According to him, he had asked the Central Election Commission to release the list of people who left Armenia. Melikian said about 200-300 thousand voters included in the lists will not vote in the presidential election because they are not in Armenia.

“The last elections showed that the situation has not changed. We do not want to deceive anyone and to take part in the election campaign; it will be a repetition of falsifications. We must renounce lie and falsification and allow the people to form power,” he stated.

Melikian added that he will drop out of the presidential contest unless the legitimacy of the elections is ensured.

He said his team will not recognize the election as legal and he will leave the arena.

At the same time Arman Melikian said he has a good chance of winning.
