Another 30-35 observers to arrive in Armenia soon
The Armenian legislation provides a basis for the organization and conduct of elections in line with international democratic principles and standards, the Head of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly’s Observation Mission for the February 18 presidential election Alexander Stoyangolo said at the meeting with the Chairman of Armenia’s Central Election Commission Tigran Mukuchian.
He said that another 30-35 observers of the Mission will arrive in Armenia soon.
Underlining the importance of observation missions which are regularly carried out by the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Tigran Mukuchian informed his interlocutor about the preparatory work the CEC has done ahead of the presidential election.
Stressing the role of electoral processes’ publicity in raising public trust, Tigran Mukuchian appreciated the work aimed at removing inaccuracies from voter lists and spoke about the measures to ensure publicity of voter lists. The sides also discussed issues related to the nomination and registration of candidates and their election campaigns.
