Sargsyan: In case of abuses, we not deserve to be our country’s leaders

The pre-election visit of presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan to Syunik province is continuing. Today’s stop of his tour was the city of Kapan.

“In about a month there will be political processes, which will affect the further development of Armenia: the matter concerns the conduct of free and independent elections. We have the opportunity to hold free and fair elections,” Serzh Sargsyan said at the meeting with Kapan residents, adding that in the opinion of some people, this election is uncompetitive. He noted that creating rivals is not the task of authorities.

“This is not our task. Out task is to form a competitive field where everyone who wants to be nominated will be nominated and will struggle,” Serzh Sargsyan said.

The candidate also touched upon the complaints that come-and-go people are nominated as presidential candidates.
“We have no right to blame anyone for their decision to run or not to run in elections. But if we fail to hold fair and good elections, if we are accused of abuses, it will mean that we do not deserve to be the leaders of our people and our country,” S. Sargsyan said.
