Expert: HHK can buy BHK votes if it wants to
All the electoral rules supposed to be applied are not applied now because no real election has been held in Armenia in the past 20 years, Armen Badalian, an expert specializing in political and electoral processes, said at the meeting with reporters.
He dwelled on the electorates of those political forces that did not field their own candidates to run in the upcoming presidential election. He said that, for example, after the parliamentary elections the Armenian National Congress’s (HAK) electorate is made up of people who support Levon Ter-Petrosian and would vote for a candidate whose image resembles that of Ter-Petrosian.
Speaking about the electorate of BHK (Prosperous Armenia Party), Badalian said that 300,000 of the 450,000 BHK voters are motivated by material considerations so “HHK (Republican Party of Armenia) can buy their votes if it wants to”.
“50,000 BHK voters like Gagik Tsarukian’s image, and the remaining 100,000 are voters who supported Ter-Petrosian in 2008, but when they noticed that HAK has weakened, they began to support BHK,” the expert noted.
As for the electorate of ARF-Dashnaktsutyun, Armen Badalian described it as a “Hay Dat electorate” who favor the idea of “Armenia from sea to sea”.
