Paruyr Hayrikian to ask CEC to postpone election?

The presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikian’ health has deteriorated. He has severe pains. Besides, Hayrikian, who was recently shot and wounded, cannot move the fingers of his right hand because of a nerve injury. Spokesman of Hayrikian’s campaign headquarters Karo Yeghnikian told this to Aysor.am.

In his words, doctors say Hayrikian cannot leave the hospital. “We have postponed all the meetings scheduled for these two days,” Yeghnukian said.

When asked whether this circumstance may cause the candidate to ask the Central Election Commission to postpone the election, Yeghnukian replied: “At first we announced that Hayrikian would not apply to the CEC. We thought that the physical obstacle was overcome, but later we revealed it was not. In addition, we hoped the appropriate bodies would issue a statement. The organizers of the attempted murder have not been found so the threat remains. Personally, I consider it necessary to apply to the CEC, but the decision rests with Hayrikian”.
