Prime minister: “Don’t do us a bad turn”

At the government session today, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stressed the need for strict control in schools so as to prevent their involvement in the electoral process.

The Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotian assured him that all problems were solved before the start of the election campaign. “Educational institutions should not carry out any political activity and the electoral process should proceed unhindered. This is our main goal”.

Ashotian said two phone calls have been received so far: one complaint was from Agarak, the other - from Masis. In both cases severe reprimands were issued.

It was mentioned that the list of halls for election rallies is available at the Central Election Commission’s website. Halls of some schools were included in the list, but rallies will not be held during class hours.

Students and schoolchildren also participate in election campaigning of presidential candidates.

The prime minister said: “We will be vigilant and not allow any violations of the law. By interfering in the process, you do us a bad turn, we don’t need that”.
