Mass media monitoring: 4 leaders, Ghukasian in 7th place
“The mass media did now show bias against any of the presidential candidates during coverage of the upcoming election,” Chairman of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardian said at the meeting with reporters today, when announcing the results of an interim report on monitoring of the mass media coverage of the presidential candidate’s election campaigning on January 14- February 3.
In his words, they also met with representatives of the candidates’ campaign headquarters that voiced complaints.
“The election campaign received most coverage from ArmNews Television Channel and Arm Radio, while Yerkir Media and Kenron Channels have become less active compared with the period of parliamentary elections, which perhaps is due to the fact that the owners of those television companies now show less interest in the election”.
4 leaders in terms of coverage are Serzh Sargsyan, Raffi Hovannisian, Paryur Hayrikian, and Hrant Bagratian. Andrias Ghukasian is in 7th place, and Arman Melikian occupies the last position.
“Since January 21, the coverage of candidate Serzh Sargsyan’s campaign has become briefer, and he is now in third place, being surpassed by Hayrikian and Hovannisian,” Navasardian said.
