Aram Harutyunian submits withdrawal application to CEC
The presidential candidate, leader of National Accord Party Aram Harutyunian submitted an application for withdrawal of his candidacy to the Central Election Commission of Armenia at 5:00 pm today, the CEC press service reports.
Harutyunian was to submit his application to CEC by 6:00 pm so that the commission could discuss the application at today’s sitting to start at 6:30 pm. Harutyunian handed the application certified by a notary to CEC Secretary Armen Smbatian. He said he will not participate in the sitting of CEC.
Outside the CEC Harutyunian thanked all those who supported him, as well as the journalists.
Let us remind you that Aram Harutyunian went on a 24-hour hunger strike yesterday outside the building of Central Election Commission. Earlier he called upon other presidential candidates to withdraw their candidacies so as to leave the major rival – HHK Chairman Serzh Sargsyan alone.
