Hayrikian on motives: Epos expert is not political figure

The leader of AIM Party, presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikian knows the details of his attempted murder case being investigated by the Investigation Department of NSS as much as the public knows. Hayrikian said this at the meeting with reporters today.

“As I already said, I prefer not to talk about it. The investigators will give answers to all questions,” Hayrikian noted.

When asked if an identification lineup was held and if Hayrikian recognized the two suspects as the men who shot at him, the presidential candidate repeated: “I have already said that I do not talk about the investigation”.

Hayrikian touched upon the presidential candidate, epos expert Vardan Sedrakian’s statement to the effect that after the election Sedrakian will be detained in connection with the Hayrikian case. “I cannot say anything about the man who – at the moment like this – compares his car’s cost with the cost of my car and, moreover, even declares that his car is worth more than my life", Hayrikian said.

Asked whether the epos expert could have any political motives to organize his attempted murder, Paruyr Hayrikian replied that the epos expert is not a political figure; therefore his only motive may lie in the sphere of epos knowledge. “We would have been rivals or he would have had a motive, if, say, he had not liked an epos written by me”, Hayrikian said.
