Serzh Sargsyan firmly against shift to parliamentary form of government
The presidential candidate Serzh Sargsyan is firmly against the shift to a parliamentary form of government. He made that statement at the rally with voters in Nork Marash district of Yerevan today.
“I am firmly against it because the course of events in the country does not depend on the form of government. The parliamentary system does not guarantee success, even though some people claim that it is more democratic. France and the U.S. are countries with presidential form of government, yet they have achieved great success,” he said.
Responding to a question about the causes of the shadow economy in Armenia and the ways to fight it, Sargsyan replied that a shadow sector is a component of any economy and it exists in all countries, but it is another matter that it becomes a monopoly and is not taxed.
“Unfortunately, in many cases uninformed people speak about the shadow economy. If I were 100% sure of the names and places, I would make them pay their taxes within a week,” Serzh Sargsyan noted.
