Expert: BHK will receive few votes in case of new elections to NA
Prosperous Armenia party (BHK) voluntarily abandoned its votes by not fielding its candidate in the presidential election and Heritage Party has gained these votes. Political scientist Stepan Grigorian expressed this opinion during a talk with the correspondent of Aysor.am. He added that BHK and other political forces that did not run in the recent presidential elections will not be able to recover the votes of their electorates.
“If Raffi Hovannisian’s demand is met and new elections to the National Assembly are held, these forces will not receive as many votes as they received, for example, in the parliamentary elections held in May 2012,” the expert said, adding that having studied elections in various countries, he saw for the first time that a political force (BHK, which is currently the second largest force in Armenian parliament - Aysor.am) voluntary has not fielded it own candidate to run in the presidential election, while having so many votes.
When asked whether BHK is likely to make part of the coalition, S. Grigorian replied that in case of new elections to National Assembly, BHK will collect very few votes, “so few that entering or not entering a coalition will not make any difference to them”.
“A political force, which does not join such a serious wave of discontent but had received the majority of protest votes during elections to the National Assembly, will evidently lose what it has,” Grigorian said.
