Rubik Hakobian: Heritage Party demands change of power

“Our position is that we will defend the votes of our people within the framework of the constitution. We are going to use every opportunity to defend our votes by means of some political pressure”, the head of Heritage parliamentary faction Rubik Hakobian told Aysor.am, when commenting on some political forces’ opinion that the goals of protesters in Liberty Square and Raffi Hovannisian himself are obscure.

He reminded the correspondent of Aysor.am about the recent meeting between Serzh Sargsyan and Raffi Hovannisian, during which the 3-point proposals were rejected and, as R. Hovannisian put it, were removed from the agenda.

When asked whether Heritage Party and Raffi Hovannisian demand change of power, Rubik Hakobian replied: “Of course”. “It is the people, the voters who want a change of power, and we just want to stipulate that,” he added.

In response to the remark that yesterday the deputy of Armenian National Congress (HAK) Aram Manukian said that if Raffi Hovannisian formulates the change of power, “everything will fall into place”, Rubik Hakobian resentfully said that those who want to see a demand in Raffi Hovannisian’s actions will certainly see it.

In R. Hakobian’s words, the continuity of rallies depends on time. When asked if they are not concerned about the possibility that the movement will subside over time, Hakobian said there are all kinds of concerns but “the political course and tactics we have adopted are unlikely to cause the popular movement to subside”.
