Book about Sumgait events translated into 9 languages

“The Sumgait Tragedy: Eyewitness Accounts” by Samvel Shahmuradian has been translated into nine languages. The book was released with the assistance of the Public Relations and Information Center of the RA President’s Administration, the Director of Ordinary Genocide Project Marina Grigorian said at a press conference today.

For her part, Ms. Larisa Alaverdian highly appreciated the activities of the Center Head Ara Saghatelian.

“Genocides committed with impunity lead to misanthropic actions like the ones in Sumgait,” L. Alaverdian noted.

She underlined the necessity of giving an adequate assessment of the Sumgait events.

“In the Soviet time even a fly couldn’t fly without KGB’s knowledge. That chain of genocide was prepared for quite a long time, under the guidance of Azerbaijan’s Communist Party,” L. Alaverdian said.
