Adibekian: Only BHK may become serious rival to Republican Party
Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has enough leverage to recover as at the moment it plays a somewhat passive role in the domestic political field, sociologist Aharon Adibekian told reporters today.
In his words, BHK has serious resources and local headquarters, which have worked and will work. He didn’t share the opinion that BHK is a political corpse now. “It is BHK that may become a serious rival to HHK (Republican Party of Armenia) as the ideology of this party is dear to people,” Adibekian noted, adding that BHk should take a “more literate approach” to the upcoming elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders than it did during the last election.
In the sociologist’s words, the reports claiming that the son of the second Armenian President – Sedrak Kocharian will lead the BHK list of candidates are a “political myth”, but he stressed that in this case “BHK would become stronger because among its members are people who remain loyal to Robert Kocharian”.
As regards HHK, Adibekian said it stands a good chance as most residents of Yerevan are happy with the incumbent Mayor Taron Margarian. He enumerated the positive changes made by T. Margarian such as improvement of buildings’ external appearance, repairs of main entrances, etc.
