Alasania: Shooting down civilian planes is unacceptable

Shooting down civilian planes is, to put it mildly, unacceptable, Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania told a press conference in Yerevan today. He then asked the journalist who had asked the question to clarify what he meant.

After learning that the matter concerns Azerbaijan’s threats to shoot down Nagorno Karabakh-bound planes, the Georgian minister said: “At the meeting with Mr. Ohanian, we discussed regional issues and noted that all the conflicts should be solved by peaceful means only, through negotiations”.

For his part, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian said Armenia will cooperate with Georgia in the spheres of defense, education, and training of special mission units. “Our relations are at a high level and continue to develop,” Ohanian stated.

When speaking about Russian 102nd military base in Armenia,” I. Alasania said: “The Georgian side often speaks about the threat that this military base poses to Georgia, but I am sure that the Armenian side will never allow using it against Georgia”.
