Simon Fraser: Karabakh problem should be solved through negotiations

Great Britain supports the negotiations on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement within the framework of the OSCE Minks Group and it is important that the problem be solved based on the principles proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Permanent Under Secretary of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Simon Fraser said at the meeting with journalists in Yerevan today. S. Fraser is in Yerevan as part of his regional trip to the South Caucasus.

He said that the Karabakh problem should be resolved through negotiations, based on the principles of self-determination of nations, territorial integrity, and non-use of force.

In his words, they had interesting discussions with Armenia’s president, prime minister, and foreign minister. The issues discussed were related to the development of economic ties between UK and Armenia, the steps taken by Yerevan to promote EU-Armenia relationship, and regional problems, including the Karabakh conflict.
