David Harutyunian: Opposition shares responsibility for elections

We live in a small city, and in case of pressure being put on 1,899 people, 1,899 proxies, everyone would know about it, the deputy of HHK parliamentary faction David Harutyunian said in an interview with RFE/RL Armenia Service, when commenting on Heritage Party members’ statements that pressure was put on their proxies.

“I incline to believe only the facts. If someone tries to bribe you, you should inform the prosecutor’s office about it and not just speak,” David Harutyunian said.

In his words, the Electoral Code of Armenia has been considerably improved and few countries have such mechanisms for preventing election violations.

“Besides, the opposition could have had its members and proxies in each commission. You had commission members and you share the responsibility for the proper conduct of the election with us,” David Harutyunian stated.
