Gallup poll: 40% of Armenians ready to leave country permanently

Gallup Organization conducted a poll among 41,072 adults in 12 out of the 15 former USSR republics in order to reveal the level of their desire to leave their country permanently and the reasons for this, the organization’s official website said.

According to the poll conducted in 2010-2012, 15% of residents of 12 former USSR republics would like to establish permanent residency abroad.

40% of respondents in Armenia said they would like to leave the country permanently, which is the highest index. By comparison, the same index in Uzbekistan is only 5%.

In each of the surveyed countries, more women (17%) expressed a desire to leave their country than men (10%).
