Azerbaijanis are hardened in Syria to be used in other conflicts
Hundreds of Azerbaijanis are involved in the conflict in Syria, which is also evident from the photos of 30 Azerbaijani militants recently killed in Syria, orientalists Armen Petrosian and Sargis Grigorian said at a press conference today.
“All of them were young. Azerbaijani youth is in crisis today. They leave the country as they do not find opportunities of self-fulfillment and are discontented with the dictatorship in Azerbaijan. It is not surprising that so many young men participate in the conflicts in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and even Mali,” Sargis Grigorain noted.
The experts underlined that this is done with the aim of hardening young men in order to use them in other conflicts.
“Azerbaijan turns a blind eye to all this. It is impossible that certain Azerbaijani services were unaware of what most young people who left the country are doing,” Armen Petrosian said.
In his words, the majority of such fighters penetrate into Syria from Turkey.
“They are called Chechens, but there are several hundred Azerbaijanis, including Talyshs and Lezgins, among those fighters,” Petrosian said.
As for the situation in Syria, the experts said it is worsening day by day, while the conflict solution is becoming more uncertain.
