Armenian President takes oath of office

The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan took the oath of office over the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and a 7th century Gospel.

“Assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Armenia, I swear to fulfill the requirements of the Constitution, respect human rights and liberties, ensure the Republic’s independence, territorial integrity and security to the glory of the Republic of Armenia and for the benefit of the people of the Republic of Armenia,” President Sargsyan stated at the special session of the National assembly.

The Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II was present at the ceremony. His Holiness extended his blessings to the President.
