Vartan Oskanian: City should become self-sufficient

As part of their election campaign, a group of members of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) together with Vartan Oskanian today planted trees in the area adjacent to Surb Sargis Church in Nor Nork district of Yerevan. Let us remind you that Oskanian heads the party list in the May elections to Yerevan Council of Elders.

Oskanian then spoke to reporters, saying they give priority to solution of the environmental problems of Yerevan such as air pollution.

“In recent years, so many green areas were destroyed in the city and so many buildings constructed that climate in Yerevan has changed. We have much work to do,” he noted.

“We should pay attention to solution of transport, water supply, and garbage disposal problems, try to improve the city’s architectural appearance, and cut the red tape in Yerevan”.

“The city should become self-sufficient, it is necessary to increase its budget,” Vartan Oskanian said.

According to him, today’s tree planting action is neither the first nor the last one and there is no need to link it with the election campaign only.
