Only HHK members aspire to position of Daranak village head
6 candidates are running in the May 5 elections to the 5-seat Council of Elders in Daranak village, Gegharkunik province. All 6 candidates were put up by Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). Four of them are HHK members, and two are unaffiliated persons, according to the website of the Central Election Commission of Armenia.
The reason for holding snap elections in the abovementioned rural community is that three of five members (which is stipulated by the law) of the council were elected on 29 March 2011. The powers of the council member Mamikon Karapetian were suspended as he was absent unreasonably from more than half of the council’s meetings, due to which the meetings were not held.
