Adibekian: Vartan Oskanian not familiar with Yerevan problems

Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Hello Yerevan bloc of parties, Armenian National Congress Party (HAK), and ARF (Dashnaktsutyun) Party are trying to politicize the elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders, sociologist Aharon Adibekian told reporters today.

“Vartan Oskanian does not speak much about the existing problems, perhaps because there is a division of duties in BHK. Gurgen Arsenian talks more substantially. Judging from Oskanian’s speeches, he is not familiar with the problems of Yerevan,” the sociologist stressed.

In his words, ARFD and HAK parties are trying to show that they view these elections as a step towards the further process of power change, while Orinats Yerkir Party (OEK) and Republican Party are trying to keep the elections at an everyday level.

“OEK faction tries to show that it is capable of solving the problems that no one else will tackle and that in the person of Armen Yeritsian, OEK can solve numerous problems,” Adibekian noted.

In his opinion, moderate opposition will vote for Hello Yerevan bloc, while BHK will collect votes of centrist opposition because BHK voices less radical criticism than HAK and ARFD.

As regards the PR campaign, the sociologist said that the persons who top the lists of candidates do not criticize harshly each other, but there is black PR in the mass media and on the Internet.
