New Armenia Party joins OEK
A congress of unregistered New Armenia Party was held at the Congress Yerevan Hotel today. The issue of joining Orinats Yerkir Party (OEK) was on the agenda. The OEK deputy chairman Mher Shahgeldian and the head of OEK parliamentary faction Ms. Heghine Bisharian attended the congress. The congress stared about 30 minutes late, the hall was half-empty. The participants took a decision about New Armenia Party’s joining Orinats Yerkir Party.
The New Armenia’s Chairman, founder of MaxInfo information website Babken Harutyunian said in his speech that the Justice Ministry declined to register New Armenia Party, but there is no reason to give way to despair and their team will continue political activities.
“New Armenia Party was established on the basis of European Integration NGO, and while the Justice Ministry was deciding whether to register New Armenia, European Integration NGO submitted a proposal to Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasarian to create a Eurasian information center. Thanks to Baghdasarian, the process of establishing the center was initiated. Arthur Baghdasarian proposed that we should continue our political activity together with Orinats Yerkir,” Baken Harutyunian said.
For his part, Nher Shahgeldian welcomed the members of New Armenia Party, saying that there are many young people among them who are eager to make changes and struggle for a better future of Armenia.
